Beginning May 25th, 2018, the European Union’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) will be in effect. The GDPR is designed to help secure personal information to protect online consumers. While this protection law is based in the European Economic Area (EEA), Google Analytics will now offer GDPR compliant options for data retention for all its users worldwide. This means that Google is updating how much information can be stored in Google Analytics and for how long. Users can select the length of time the data will be saved, depending on their business needs and preferences.
